The Panasonic LX5 has been getting quite a bit of buzz lately. As the newest camera in Panasonic’s popular LX line, customers had high expectations for the LX5. We got the chance to perform a Panasonic LX5 review recently, and were impressed with what we saw.

The Panasonic LX3 is the predecessor to the LX5, and has been a very popular camera since its release. The LX3 fit a particular niche in the digital camera market, offering a simple point-and-shoot camera with loads of features. The LX3 was perfect for professional photographers who wanted something portable, and famous among amateurs for making their photos look professional. That’s not exactly an easy task, but the LX3 made it happen.

Our Panasonic LX5 review showed that not only is the LX5 a worthy successor to the LX3, but also features upgrades that put it way beyond what the LX3 was capable of. It’s taken the best features and improved upon them, offering even more quality at a point-and-shoot price. The LX5 review uncovered a larger sensor than the LX3, delivering over 10MP. It’s also got an expanded zoom range, wider aperture range and enhanced image stabilization. These features provide bright, brilliant shots with a sharp focus rarely seen in a value-priced camera.

The Panasonic LX5 review we performed also uncovered a boatload of other features designed to make you look like a pro. The camera shoots in 720p HD video, with an updated format that allows it to record nearly 3 times as long as competing models. The super-fast shutter speed is capable of taking up to 10 photos per second, perfect for capturing moving targets or candid snapshots.

We were impressed by how lightweight this camera is in our LX5 review. Weighing in at just over half a pound, this point-and-shoot digital camera is deceptively lightweight for its wide range of features. We did some pricing research while performing our Panasonic LX5 review, and found that Amazon has the best price on this camera. Amazon’s price is over 20% off of the retail price for the Panasonic LX5, for a savings of over $100. Amazon also offers free shipping on the LX5, while many competing camera and electronics shops charge up to $35 in shipping and handling fees. If you’re planning to purchase the Panasonic LX5, it looks like Amazon is your best bet.
